Major Win: IT Project Managers at OHSU Have Joined Our Union!

Last Friday the Oregon Employment Relations board ruled that approximately 25 Information Technology Project Managers (ITPM) at OHSU must be recognized as bargaining unit members. This is a major win for these workers who have petitioned to join our local, and for the strength of our union!

After OHSU refused to allow ITPMs to join our local, we filed a petition to the Employment Relations Board to bring this unrepresented group into our bargaining unit. OHSU fought back, citing that these workers were managers, supervisors, or confidential employees and had no right to collectively bargain, but we won!

Our local is strong because of our membership. ITPMs were tired of OHSU promising competitive wages and benefits that never came during their time as unrepresented workers. They saw what we fought for in our new contract, how much stronger our contract is than the status-quo for OHSU’s unrepresented workers. With the help our our member leaders and organizers we were able to launch and fight this campaign, and win better working conditions and pay for ITPMs - and our entire bargaining unit.
