2. Purpose

The purpose of this report is for the Elections Committee to provide the membership of Local 328 the outcome of the recent elections for the Executive Board.

3. Context

This report pertains to the 2025 Board Election, which ran from 12:00 a.m. on Sept. 7 to 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 21.

Members voted on the following contested board seats: President, Vice-President, Treasurer and 24 At-Large positions. There were two candidates for President, two candidates for Vice-President, two candidates for Treasurer, and 37 candidates running for the At-Large positions. The positions of Secretary and Chief Steward ran unopposed.

This was the first time our Local has had this level of interest from members who want to serve.

5. Software Malfunction

Maintaining transparency and integrity is central in any election and for AFSCME Local 328’s Election Committee. Midway through the election, we discovered there was a glitch in the Hub that was forcing some members to cast votes for all 24 At-Large positions, while it was allowing other members to cast as few votes as they wanted. It is not clear at this time if this was the case for the President, Vice-President and Treasurer seats. Members who voted in person were also allowed to vote for as many, or as few, candidates as they chose.

We also discovered that one candidate’s name was left off of the Hub ballot but was on the paper ballot. The candidate has been notified of this issue.

6. In Closing

The new Executive Board will assume their roles beginning 10/01/2025. The Election Committee appreciates the growing interest our members have in serving our Local. We thank you for your patience and trust in allowing each of us to serve you in this capacity.
