Election Update: ACTION REQUIRED
ACTION REQUIRED: VOTE HERE
As you know we held a Re-Election for the Executive Board in February. The votes were tabulated and shared with the membership on 2/23/2026. We had a total of three candidates running for President. Because no candidate received more than 50% of the votes, the Constitution requires us to conduct a run-off election.
The Election Committee received an election protest after announcing the run-off election. When this happens, the Election Committee must review and consider all parts of the protest and give the protesting party (or parties) time to meet with the Election Committee to hear their concerns. The Election Committee must report to the membership and give a recommendation.
The membership must accept or reject the Election Committee's recommendation.
The Election Committee's report with recommendations and the protest along with the supporting documents have been sent via email (two emails to be specific due to The HUB’s limited capacity to attach documents).
For the next election, the Election Committee is working to combine the run-off election with the Delegate election for AFSCME's upcoming International Convention, which will be held in Chicago this August. Combining the two elections minimizes the costs of holding them separately.
Next steps:
1 - Members cast their votes through The Hub to accept or reject the Election Committee's recommendation.
2 - Mailer for election run-off and Delegate election information mailed April 2026.
3 - Online nominations and the nomination meeting will be held in April 2026.
4 - Combined election held in May 2026
