ANI Pay for Relief and Flex Employees

Are you a relief or flex employee who is being told you can’t sign up for ANI shifts?

We are hearing reports that some managers are denying ANI shifts (additional need incentive) sign-ups for relief and flex employees who have not yet reached their 32-hour minimum for the pay period. This is wrong, and it is a violation of our contract.

You do NOT have to already have worked 32 hours before you can sign up for and work an ANI shift. You can pick up an ANI shift at any point in the pay period - before, during, or after you’ve hit your minimum hours. As long as you meet the 32-hour requirement by the end of the pay period, you are entitled to the ANI differential on your paycheck.

If a manager is telling you otherwise, tell them directly that it is a violation of our CBA (collective bargaining agreement) article 10.14.2.2. If your manager continues to deny your ANI request, do not let it go! Please submit a grievance by contacting our Member Services Center. These situations are precisely what the grievance process is for.
