Just two days before a Kaiser strike was supposed to begin, OFNHP announced they had reached a tentative agreement with Kaiser. The issues that pushed these union members to the brink of a strike should sound familiar to Local 328 members: understaffing, disrespectfully low wage increases and a proposed two-tiered contract. We hope that OHSU’s executives paid close attention to the situation at Kaiser and will keep it in mind as Local 328’s contract negotiations approach.

Catalytic converters have been the main target; however, folks who park at OHSU should be mindful of the valuables they keep in their vehicles as well. Our union has spoken with OHSU Public Safety, who have proposed deterrents such as gates, cameras and emergency phones. Local 328 has proposed to HR that OHSU reimburse employees for out-of-pocket costs.
