The Origins of OHSU’s $1,000 Frontline Recognition Payment

While we appreciate that the employer is finally paying this recognition bonus now, it’s not the first time that OHSU’s leadership has dragged its feet on incentivizing our members during the pandemic. As our union moves closer to bargaining, we must continue to remind OHSU leadership of what employees represented by Local 328 do for this organization and for our communities, and that we expect the employer to recognize the hard work and sacrifices made by all of us to help OHSU meet the challenges of the pandemic.

OHSU's Latest Wellness Survey Shows Concerning Results

OHSU’s COVID-19 Wellness Task Force recently released the results of its most recent wellness survey. As everyone who’s been working through the pandemic can probably guess, the results are grim. And these survey responses are from before the current COVID-19 surge that has been wearing down our coworkers on the frontlines. The stresses and devastation of the pandemic have revealed that a system that prioritizes profits over people cannot endure.

More Than Just a Picket Line: Stories from the Nabisco Strike

Emotional, frustrated, isolated, divided. Those are the most common feelings associated with the last year and a half. I haven’t felt a sense of true community in a long time. But today I was reminded that true community still exists. I attended the rally for the Nabisco workers who have been on strike since August 10, and I saw what I’ve been missing. People — strangers, friends, family, community members — coming together to fight for what is right. What is just. What is fair. What is deserved.
