As part of an effort to increase the availability of Local 328 staff to members, Dave Raahahn and Frank Vehafric are scheduling regular office hours on the West Campus on the 3rd Thursday of each month. They will alternate between the Primate Center and OGI.
In January, the staff met with members in conference room 3 of the Animal Services Building at the Primate Center from 11:30 am till 1:00 pm on the19th. The meeting was coordinated by a new Union Steward at the Primate Center, Jillann Rawlins.
While activity level during the “open door” time was fairly low this time around, the staff expects it to pick up as members develop awareness that staff will be available on a consistent basis. An additional purpose to holding the sessions will be to hand out contracts, new employee packets, and items such as union logo lanyards, pens, and notepads.
Although Dave Raahahn represents the employees of the Primate Center and Frank Vehafric represents the employees of OGI, NSI and VGTI, they plan to work as a team so that members at all West Campus facilities will have a primary staff contact and a backup available.
Raahahan said, “Just remember, It’s OK to feed staff members, when they are in your area over the lunch period.”
