My name is Michael Stewart and I am running to be a Local 328 delegate to the AFSCME Council 75 State convention. I have been active in our Local for 10 years holding a number of different roles and offices in that time. I started out as a steward became lead steward, political action chair, Chief steward. Currently I am our Local’s Vice-President. I have also been active on the council level. I have been a member of the executive board and elected as special sector vice-president and currently I am regional district 1 vice-president. My top priority in all these roles is to represent the best interests of the local or locals who elected me. I hope you will honor me with your vote so I can again represent our local at next Council 75 convention.
Hello, My Name is Christine Murray, and I would like the opportunity to attend the upcoming AFSCME Council 75 convention. I started at OHSU 19 years ago at the switchboard. Today it is tough for workers to find a stable career, but I have created such a career at OHSU due to the support and protection of my union.
I value the voice our union gives us. I have participated on a labor-management committee, bringing workers' concerns about unfair treatment to management. I have also volunteered at the AFSCME annual Labor Day Picnic. More recently, our current administration's moves to enrich the already wealthy on the backs of the poor and working classes have motivated me to become more active in our union as a first, best line of defense.
I have invested in my union and coworkers by attending an AFSCME Women's Retreat, attending the International Convention, volunteering to fill a position on our Local 328 Executive Board. I would love to be a part of our upcoming state convention. We have seen, OHSU and the state of Oregon continue to become wealthier yet attempt to withhold a fair share of that wealth from those who helped earn it. Coordinating at the state level is vital to fighting for what is fair in an effective manner. It is essential we all stand together if we are going to prevent the further erosion of our wages and healthcare and I feel I would be an effective advocate for our union.
My name is Matthew Prothero, and I have been a proud AFSCME member for nearly 15 years. I’ve appreciated the hard work and dedication my fellow Union members have put forth when it comes to contract negation. I wish to add my experience and perspective to the process and represent the diverse population as a whole.
Hi, my name is Roxana Logsdon and I would like to be your representative at the AFSCME Oregon Council 75 Convention in Salem. I am a PAS Specialist for Pediatric Specialty Clinics, I have previously worked in the Picu and 5C as a HUC. I started in the Food and Nutrition Department as a cashier over 10 years ago. I currently on the Excecutve Board and would like to represent OHSU at the convention. Thank you for you consideration.
My name is Jamie Roberts. I have worked at OHSU in the Internal Medicine clinic for a little over 2 years now and have been on the board since October of 2017. I was chosen to go to the Boston Convention last year and it was absolutely amazing so I would like to see if the state convention will be just as amazing. The amount of people that were at the Boston Convention that supported the union was overwhelming. I learned so much about how our union started and the great people that fought to get us to where we are today. That convention made me really appreciate all the work people have put in to make our lives easier and I want to continue to be a part of that and see where it takes us next.
