The last few months have seen some changes in the partnership between Tuality and OHSU. Earlier this year OHSU acquired the Orenco clinic and their employees, and, effective June 3rd, OHSU will acquire Tuality IT employees.
As well as becoming OHSU employees the transferring Tuality employees also become employees represented by AFSCME Local 328. Orenco employees received a brief orientation to our union at one of their morning huddles and members there signed membership cards within a couple of weeks. They now have a trained shop steward on site and all the protections of a comprehensive collective bargaining agreement, otherwise known as a union contract.
In both cases “accretion agreements” were approved and signed off on by both OHSU and the Local 328 Executive Board. These agreements guarantee immediate representation by our union and the maintenance of Tuality earned seniority for purposes of vacation accrual and layoff protection.
Tuality IT employees will be given a full orientation to our union sometime after June 3rd – the exact date and time has not been determined – and we will have ample time to introduce ourselves and give you a chance to sign a membership card.
In the meantime we are happy to answer any questions either Orenco or Tuality IT employees might have. Go to our website: www.local328.org and click on the “contact us” button on the top menu bar.
We, at Local 328, extend a sincere welcome to our union and we want you to know we will be there for you when you need us.
